About Us

Hydrangea House is an incredibly special place to us. Originally set up by Jo in 2015 after a critical illness payment from a breast cancer diagnosis, the whole family has contributed to making it the beautiful home it is today. In Jo's words "it was what I'd dream of whilst enduring treatment. Hythe was where we retreated when we needed to escape, children and dog in tow, bundled into the car to soak up the sun or to embrace the winter winds along the promenade. Whatever the weather we'd return revived, ready to tackle whatever life had in store for us". Unfortunately, Jo's cancer returned and she passed away in 2025. Hydrangea House is now owned by her children, Grace & George, and managed on a day-to-day basis by Koala Rentals. We're fortunate that out of something awful we have something amazing, which we want to share with you. We aim to repay our gratitude of our situation by donating back to the organisations that supported us, and have previously let the house at no cost to families in a similar situation to ours, something we know Jo would have wanted us to do.
